posted 26 Jan 2012 15:18 by Stephen Harris   [ updated 26 Jan 2012 15:26 ]

Hope for Justice training day

at Wessex Christian Fellowship

2.30 pm – 6.30 pm, Sunday 19 February 2012

The What...

Hope for Justice is a UK charity set up in 2007 to rescue the victims of human trafficking, to see the criminals brought to justice and to see the restoration of lives of those who have been devastated.

They have teams of highly skilled professionals carrying out investigations across the country.

Hope for Justice are seeing amazing results but need our support to continue this dedicated work.

The Why...

There are around 88,000 women and children in Britain today involved in forced prostitution, 70% have been trafficked, the average age is 14! Children as young as 3 are being abused! A staggering 1.2 million people are trafficked around the world every year into the sex industry and bonded labour! It’s happening in every town and city in the UK – they are hidden in plain sight.

Please take just 3 minutes to view this link to hear what Hope for Justice have to say!

We want to be part of the solution to help free the captives – we need your help too!

The How...

We are delighted that the Hope for Justice team will be holding a training afternoon for those wanting to be 'actively' involved with the Basingstoke 'Act for Justice' group.

They will cover topics such as:

  • How to effectively link the local churches together - network-prayer
  • What can be done on the legal front – petitioning/ lobbying MP’s
  • How can we spot the sign/ How can we raise awareness
  • How to run an affective ‘Act for Justice’ group – get the most out of the willing helpers
  • Fundraising – tips, local sponsorships

The YOU...

So if your heart is touched by the horror of human trafficking and you are moved into action (but don't know what to do next) then this day is for YOU! Come and find out how you can get involved.

All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing (Edmund Burke 1727-97)

The 'What Next'

You will be warmly welcomed at the Hope for Justice training day, to find out how you can help.

An Evening with Jonathan Veira

posted 30 Dec 2011 12:13 by Stephen Harris

3 February 2012, 7.30 pm
at the Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke

An opera singer by trade, Jonathan Veira is also a brilliant raconteur and sings everything from Les Mis to Shake and Vac adverts during his concerts. A firm favourite at Spring Harvest, he easily draws the biggest crowds of the week and we have been fortunate to have become part of his UK tour.

He performed at Christ Church Chineham about 10 years ago, but we at Christ Church have stepped out in faith and booked a secular venue this time. He has a strong Christian influence through his music making this a great evangelistic event as well as a cracking night out! He will appeal to all ages, too, so why not invite your friends and neighbours and pick up a ticket or two for the bargain price of £10 each?

Tickets available from the Anvil and Haymarket Box Offices (01256 844244) and their website: www.anvilarts.org.uk
